When Ford announced the new generation F-150 Raptor everyone expected to see at least a small power increase. Well, turns out Ford decided to offer the same engine under the hood: a 3.5-liter, twin-turbo V-6 EcoBoost with 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. A very disappointing news for every Raptor fan out there.

Shelby however has the solution: its latest pack based on the new generation F-150 Raptor delivers no less that 525 horsepower. Still, way under the Ram 1500 TRX, but a lot better than a standard Raptor, right?

Under the hood, the Shelby F-150 Raptor retains the same 3.5-liter, EcoBoost V-6 engine from the standard Raptor, but adds a few tricks to it. First of all, Shelby adds a performance intake with a high flow filter and a performance aluminum intercooler. There is also an oversized air intake tube and a Shelby tuned performance exhaust system.

However, when compared to the previous generation Shelby Raptor, the new model doesn’t bring any power upgrades.

Don’t get us wrong, we really like the look of the new generation F-150 Raptor, but the Shelby F-150 Raptor takes it a step forward. First of all, the engine hood was replaced with a new Baja Raptor hood with intake and extraction vents. The grille stays the same, but the F-O-R-D lettering is replaced by S-H-E-L-B-Y lettering and there are two LED lights on each side. The car is also equipped with a steel, flat black front bumper featuring two air flow vents, a 30-inch curved LED light bar, and two smaller, 10-inch LED driving lights.

At the rear, you will see the same steel, flat-black rear bumper with two 10-inch LED driving lights, and two LED square lights. The bed also features a steel, flat-black chase rack and comes equipped with full-size spare wheel mounts. A 50-inch power LED light bar makes the night off-roading a lot safer.

The truck rides on a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 37-inch BFG KM3 mud-terrain tires. Finally, Shelby striping and badging, and a serialized engine plate and dash plaque complete the package.

Changes to the interior are not as impressive as the ones from the exterior. Shelby did, however, trim the interior in leather and added several carbon fiber accents. The floormats are also new, the pedals were replaced by new Billet racing pedals, and the windows were covered in a deep-tinted film.

The new, 2022 Shelby Ford F-150 Raptor is priced at $124,820 - almost double the price of the 2021 F-150 Raptor which starts at $65,840. The truck is available through select Tuscany and Ford dealers in North America.
