Fusion3 has introduced the EDGE industrial 3D printer—its largest to date. The FDM (fused deposition modeling)-style printer has been “reimagined from the ground up,” according to the Greensboro, N.C., company.
The printer reportedly meets tight tolerances and yields fine surface finishes when printing high-temperature, engineering-grade materials; is easy to use; and prints parts up to 14 by 14 by 14.5 in. Plus, in “Fast Mode,” it prints some materials at 200 mm/sec. when fitted with a 0.4-mm printhead.
EDGE comes with upgraded motion-control components, including all-new linear rails, Gates 2GT2 belts, and specially tuned stepper motors. It also features the company’s patented Anvil printhead system, which incorporates a surgical steel print tube instead of a traditional screw-in nozzle. The print tube facilitates faster printing and greater wear-resistance when laying down abrasive filaments, like those made from carbon fiber or reinforced with fiberglass.
The EDGE prints parts from PLA, ABS, ASA, Kevlar, nylons, polycarbonate, and other materials.
