When it comes to the restoration of classic Porsches, most of us might think of a 993, 964, or any other air-cooled model. However, one car that nobody imagines getting restored or remastered is the legendary Porsche 959. Rightfully so, because there's really not a lot of them lying around, anyway. But there is one genius who has mastered this machine and made this already incredible "hypercar" even better. Yes, we are talking about Bruce Canepa.

The retired American race car driver Bruce Canepa is responsible for creating the 959 “Reimagined” called the Porsche 959SC. The Porsche 959SC is the epitome of an era-defining hypercar transported into the twenty-first century. The reworked 959SC comes equipped with the technological breakthroughs of the century for superior power, handling, and driver appointments, while maintaining the charm of the original car that was released in 1987.

When Ruf Automobile GmbH decided to create a race car for the streets, it ended up creating the beautiful CTR Yellowbird. Recognized over the globe for its iconic yellow paint and mind-boggling engineering, the CTR (abbreviation of "Group C Turbo Ruf") is an illustrious automobile that was launched almost 37 years ago.

To commemorate the launch of the original CTR Yellowbird in 2017, Ruf launched the CTR Anniversary. This modern interpretation of the original car features a carbon fiber monocoque completely developed and manufactured by Ruf. It is powered by a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-6 that produces 700 hp and 649 lb-ft of torque. The best part about this beast is the fact that it still comes with a 7-speed manual gearbox.

When it comes to creating the ultimate reworked masterpiece from an old 993, Gunther Werks is easily the best company to consult. At $525,000 it may seem a little or shall we say extremely outrageous, but to be very honest it's worth every penny spent. The attention to detail that Gunther Werks puts into each of their cars is just unparalleled. The 400R is so amazing that even Joe Rogan couldn't resist not getting one.

The Gunther Werks 400R, limited to only 25 units, serves the purpose of bridging the gap between retro styling and modern automotive technology and reliability. The entire car is created out of carbon fiber and every other intricate part is either CNC'd or is covered with the finest materials available. Almost every part of the donor 993 is upgraded and put together with the highest level of precision and quality.

A modernized retro Porsche will never go out of style. And what could be better than one restomodded by Kaege Retro? Not a lot of things of course. Created by the master craftsman Roger Kaege, the company has been producing retro-looking modern 993s for over two decades and has really cemented its name as one best in business.

The KAEGE RETRO Classic is a rendition of the storied F-model built on a 993, and it's not a replica. The bumpers, trim strips, tank caps, lights, and several other bespoke touches are truly breathtaking. It weighs around 221 lbs less than the original 993, and it's powered by the donor 993's 3.6-liter naturally aspirated engine that has been thoroughly restored. Kaege allows owners to go wild with the paint colors, interior designs, engine power, chassis calibration, and any additional features they may like.

Over the last 49 years, DP Motorsport founded by Ekkehard Zimmermann has produced some of the most tantalizing custom Porsches. DP Motorsport had its humble beginning as a Porsche modification parts manufacturer. However, as its name become more famous it branched out into creating custom chassis and other performance parts for the street Porsches.

The DP Motorsport 911 RS 3.5 Red Evolution is the last complete creation by the company founder Zimmermann and features insane upgrades. The list of things done to this Signal Red Porsche is so extensive that we cannot list all of it at once. But major elements of this custom RS model includes carbon or glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) body, H&R suspension, a welded strut brace as well as the brake system from a 911-3.3-Turbo.

A Porsche 911 is easily one of the best all-around sports cars. Not only because one can use it as a daily or Canyon carver, but also as an off-roader. Yes, you heard it right; an off-roading Porsche. However, the only catch is that you need a custom-built Adventure model by STRAAT Automobile for this feat.

The STRAAT Adventure is a rugged 4X4 911 that has been created to explore terrains that an average 911 can't visit. This all-terrain classic 911 comes with a 3.2 Carrera Euro-spec rebuilt engine, Elephant Racing performance oil cooler kit, Fabspeed exhaust, and a host of other upgrades. It can crawl any surface and from the outside it looks like nothing else on the streets.

People often assume that these restomoded Porsches are not meant to be driven hard. However, this couldn't be further from the truth. Lightspeed Classic is one of those Porsche connoisseurs and restorers that emphasize on the importance of driving their creations day in and day out.

Lightspeed Classic creates its reimagined cars based on a 993 generation 911. They have re-engineered pretty much all the components to bring the classic 911 up to modern standards. With the highest quality and greatest attention to detail; both in the technical structure and in the finish, the full breadth of know-how and craftsmanship has been incorporated into creating this masterpiece.

Most of the other remastered Porsches on this list are based on the 930s and 964s, while some others are based on the 993s. However, they all have the same principle. They take a donor car and convert it into a classic-looking model. Nonetheless, on this list, only this model is not trying to become something else. Thanks to Paul Stephens Autoart who went with a different approach and created this beauty. After five years of continuous invention and improvement, the 993R was conceived in response to a customer's request to Paul Stephan to design a 993 that was superior in every way.

A larger 3.8-liter flat-six engine, up from a 3.6-liter version, gives the 993R a boost in output to 330 horsepower instead of the standard 993's 272 horsepower. Inside, Paul Stephen added carbon-fiber Recaro seats, an integrated roll cage, and other lightweight materials in order to save weight and increase engagement. Autoart deleted all optional gadgets, including the radio, air conditioning, and motorized windows. And after everything was said and done, this car became the ultimate form a 993 could ever become.

Hands down, there are only a few things in this world that are more beautiful than this black art piece. As you can see it looks like a regular Porsche 356 from the outside. But it has got some serious work done to it to take it to the next level. Emory Motorsport founded by Rod Emory is responsible for creating this uber-opulent automobile.

It takes a staggering $350,000 to create a Porsche 356 Emory Special, yet for those mesmerized by its allure, this is nothing. Emory prepares the chassis for its modified 911 suspension and exclusive Emory-Rothsport 4-cylinder engine by doing a concours-quality restoration and stiffening the chassis. Although it has rally or race-inspired design cues, the body form seems standard. Its 2.4-liter flat-four engine produces 185 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque.

Theon Design, based in the United Kingdom, can easily be considered the British equivalent of Singer Vehicle Design. The company offers its own distinct take on the same basic formula of restomodding a classic Porsche from the ground up using the finest materials and precision engineering. The typical "recreation" vehicle begins as a Porsche 911 964-series (1989-1994) and then undergoes extensive cosmetic and mechanical modifications.

The company disassembles a donor 964 and uses OEM-level manufacturing, design, and quality processes along with an obsession with precision to produce timeless recreations. To reduce weight and enhance driving dynamics, Theon Design uses lightweight materials like carbon fiber and Kevlar to make each vehicle faster, lighter, and even more exhilarating to drive. Theon Design offers customers a choice of three ultra-responsive, high-performance naturally aspirated engine configurations: 281 hp 3.6-liter, 365 hp 3.8-liter, or 395 hp 4.0-liter engines.
