Pushing the limits in terms of design and performance, Bugatti has unveiled the new W16 Mistral Roadster. This roadster is based on Bugatti’s popular hypercar Chiron and was launched at the Monterey Car Week. The exotic will have the final iteration of the signature W16 engine of Bugatti since the automaker is moving toward electrification.

This will be a limited edition with 99 units to be produced, and impressively all the 99 units are already sold out. The price tag of this Bugatti is £4.2 million making it ₹39 crores approx without taxes and import duties. Powering this roaster is the 8.0 liter, quad-turbo W16 engine, which is tuned to match the 1,600hp version which enabled the Chiron Super Sport 300+ to create a record of 490 km/h in 2019. Bugatti is aiming to break the current record of the Hennessey Venom GT Spyder which achieved a top speed of 427 km/h. This will make the W16 Mistral the world’s fastest roadster.

According to the designers, the car is more than just a Chiron with its top cut-off. The roadster has a tweaked monocoque and new design. The exterior design includes two huge air intakes directly above the seats, which are claimed to connect the driver with the car and the W16 engine like no other Bugatti ever has. The front is equipped with the four vertically stacked LEDs, and a deeper Horseshoe grille like Divo, while the bonnet gets a similar design as the concept albeit less raucous. To create the Visor effect, it has a wrap-around windscreen blended into side windows just like La Voiture Noire.

Taking inspiration from its siblings, the Bolide-like X-shaped rear lights of the Mistral were most difficult for the designers, while the exhaust is similar to the Chiron Super Sport. The interior of this Bugatti is similar to the standard Chiron. The new thing in this interior is the special gear shifter made from an aluminum block with wood accents and an amber insert with a dancing elephant sculpture which was also seen in the Bugatti Type 41 Royale. It can also be customized as per the customer’s interest. The Bugatti W16 Mistral comes with a roof cover which is to keep the occupants dry. However, the roof cover can not be deployed while driving.
