With legacy Italian road bike maker Pinarello’s latest release, it’s fair to say gravel is here to stay. Four years since their foray into the dirt, Pinarello has a updated their Grevil frame with more modern design cues. It’s a relief to say that on paper the Grevil looks right with clearance for up to 700x50mm tires (thanks to an increased seat tube angle), a new carbon layup focused on compliance and full internal routing to up overall aerodynamics. We’ll be reviewing the bike soon but for now take a look at what we’ve had a chance to see from Pinarello.

Pinarello offered us an initial glance and tech breakdown of the updated gravel bike that will officially be unveiled at the Unbound Gravel race in Emporia along with a team of riders competing aboard the bike.

The original GREVIL shook up the gravel world back in 2018 by creating an entirely new segment: Competitive Gravel. We introduced a bike, packed with Pinarello DNA, into a market that was saturated by one kind of gravel bike, and in the process proved that to go off-road you didn’t need to slow down.

Other manufacturers all saw gravel bikes the same way and designed them with extreme comfort and load capacity in mind. We challenged that thinking with a different vision for gravel, introducing a bike that was devoted to pure performance, with an unmistakably Pinarello design.

For gravel, we took the same approach.

The GREVIL F is a pure declaration of the Pinarello philosophy, combining all of our experience, taste, and skill to design a truly unique gravel bike that is perfect on every kind of terrain, and one that still feels like a purebred race machine long after has left the tarmac behind.

For this latest version of the GREVIL, we worked hard to create a true competition bike, improving its aerodynamic performance while also increasing the bike’s versatility.

Our TICR system – Total Internal Cable Routing – improves the GREVIL F’s aerodynamic profile, while additional features such as the flat back profile on the downtube help to reduce drag and offer significant watt savings over the typical distances covered in gravel events which often exceed 200km, with speeds reaching 70km/h and hourly averages exceeding 30km/h, every watt saved brings us a little bit closer to victory.

And to make the GREVIL F even more adaptable than its predecessor, we’ve increased tyre clearance to 50mm (on 700c wheels) to allow riders the maximum amount of versatility as they tackle an ever more diverse and complex range of terrain.

We have also developed a dedicated seat clamp for the GREVIL F. Mud and dust are inevitable when riding gravel, so we didn’t want to just adopt the DOGMA clamp on the rear of the seat tube. Instead, we took inspiration from the PRINCE family and placed the GREVIL’s clamp in front of the seat post, embedded into the top tube and safely away from debris and dirt.

From the earliest stages of design, every single detail of the GREVIL F was conceived organically, to preserve the specific characteristics of the frame regardless of size. We don’t just lengthen or shorten tubes, we change angles and revise whole sections, with one goal in mind: Making sure everyone experiences the same unique performance qualities.

SIZE-SPECIFIC GEOMETRY: DIFFERENTIATED GEOMETRY AND RAKE ENSURES THE SAME TRAIL AND THE SAME CONTROL ACROSS ALL FRAME SIZES. • Reach and stack: Compared to a traditional road bike, the GREVIL F has shorter reach and higher stack to create an elongated position, offering better comfort and better handling • An increased seat tube angle allows for greater wheel clearance • Modified fork angle and rake ensures better handling and riding comfort • Chain stays: Measuring between 422-425mm. This provides the best compromise between responsiveness and comfort. Compatible with 700c or 650b wheels

TWIN ARMS: MAXIMUM ENERGY TRANSMISSION AND VIBRATION ABSORPTION The right chain stay is rotated downwards, as is the right seat stay, to have both rear triangles symmetrical with a uniform response to pedal strokes. Different connection points for the seat stays allows the seat tube to absorb impacts coming from the rear wheel in a more uniform way.

THINK ASYMMETRIC Each Pinarello is conceived with the same irrefutable starting point: asymmetry. This is our core construction philosophy. Why? Because the forces exerted on a bike are asymmetrical. Your legs push both pedals, but the chain acts ONLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. It is therefore obvious that a frame must be ASYMMETRIC to allow you to pedal in a truly SYMMETRICAL manner.

ONDA FORK: THE BEST SOLUTION FOR GRAVEL RACING The GREVIL F fork features our unique “wave” design, with a dedicated 50mm rake to provide the perfect solution for gravel racing. It offers excellent vibration dampening while still being extremely lightweight, and without the inevitable power losses that are caused by the insertion of shock absorbing elements

THE FINEST MATERIALS: T700 CARBON FROM TORAY JAPAN Not all carbon is created equal, and the material used to create a bicycle frame will strongly affects the performance.

For the GREVIL F, the perfect mix of different types of HM (high modulus) and HT (high tensile strength) fibers are used in different areas of the frame to achieve the ultimate balance of rigidity and vibration absorption. The carbon fiber used is T700 from Toray, the best carbon fiber manufacturer in the world.

ONE FRAME, THREE DIFFERENT BICYCLES GREVIL is total freedom! With 25mm tires on 700c wheels, it flies like a road bike. But with a simple tire change to 32c – or indeed up to 50c – it can overcome any obstacle and prevail on every terrain. Versatility has always been one of GREVIL’s main objectives. The frame was designed to excel on any terrain and with any wheel: • Road tires: 25mm up. Wheel diameter 700c • Gravel tires: from 32mm to 50mm. Wheel diameter 700c • MTB tires: up to 2.1 ”. Wheel diameter 650b (27.5“

• Carbon T700 UD finish • Twin Arms • Flexstays • Onda fork • Dedicate aero seat post with vibration dampening shape • Dedicated FSC Frontal seat clamp, integrated and aerodynamic • Think 2, to fit electronical or mechanical group sets on the same frame • TiCR internal cable routing • TiCR integrated headset ( 1.5 upper and 1.5 lower) • Italian thread BB • Flatback profiles • Fork Flap • E-link • Down tube bottle cage • Max Tire: 700c x 50 mm • Max Tire: 650b x 2,1” • 1x and 2x crankset option. 2x SRAM mechanical option not available • Disc Flat Mount (max Ø160 mm) • Front Axle Ø12 x 100 mm Shimano® • Rear Axle Ø12 x 142 mm Shimano
