While the company may be better known for their complete vehicle packages, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering has produced some serious custom engines and crate motors over the years as well. In an attempt to build the best engine possible for each individual customer, Ken Lingenfelter and his crew have just unveiled the all-new Eliminator Spec engine program on their Facebook page. The resulting teaser video makes these personalized builds look very promising.
The advantage of offering this new spec series of engine over a line of crate motors is an improved customer experience. An issue with crate motors has been figuring out the correct motor combination for an individual build. This is something that the Eliminator Spec engines aim to avoid.
Take the Lingenfelter Eliminator Spec R LS7 built for Jake Rozelle for example. Rozelle is a driver in the GTL class of USCA who happens to be sponsored by LPE, and his C5 Corvette recently found itself with it’s very own Eliminator Spec motor. When LPE unveiled this LS7 build at SEMA 2019, it made 800 naturally-aspirated horsepower, according to Street Muscle Magazine.
In order to make such big power, Lingenfelter outfitted the engine with its own connecting rods and forged pistons, along with ported and polished heads, a dual LSX valve spring kit with titanium retainers, an Eliminator Series roller camshaft, and their own 103mm throttle body. It’s also got a Performance Design carbon PTR intake manifold, a slick set of carbon-fiber valve covers, and a set of Kooks LSX headers. Customers will have the ability to select parts that correspond to their intended outcome for the Eliminator Spec build. LPE plans to build a range of engines, with certain owners more focused on either the street or the drag strip.
Pricing is build dependent, but we were told that the engines will start at around $12,000 for the lower horsepower street versions and it’ll be in the mid $20,000 for the race packages.
With this announcement, LPE is moving away from their previous crate engine products in the past to focus on its new line of Eliminator Series motors.
